The Photobook Phenomenon

with Brian St. Denis

The photobook has emerged in recent decades as an accessible (and collectable) way for photographic artists to communicate their projects and ideas.

In this talk, Brian St. Denis (manager of CONTACT Photobook Lab, Toronto's only photobook-specific shop) will highlight inventive approaches to the printing, publishing, and definition of photobooks, as well as sharing insights and considerations for making and publishing a photobook of one's own.

Admission is free but the space is limited to 30 people only. Please RSVP here:

Biography

Brian St. Denis is the Manager of the CONTACT Photography Festival and the CONTACT Photobook Lab, the festival's bookshop, reading room, and community meeting place for photobook makers, collectors, and enthusiasts. Through the Photobook Lab, he organizes year-round programming related to the photobook including exhibitions, fairs, book launches, and workshops. In his personal practice, St. Denis self-publishes small books that use humour and playfulness as a guiding principle for sequencing images. From 2019-2023 he was a board member at Gallery 44 Centre for Contemporary Photography.
